National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is celebrated every year on 1st October to raise awareness of the need for safe transfusion of blood and its products and to express gratitude and thanks to all Voluntary blood donors for their life-saving gift of Life. This day was first celebrated on 1st of October, 1975 by the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology (ISBTI).

Although a lot of activities/events can be planned to celebrate National Voluntary Blood Donation Day and raise awareness of voluntary blood donation, we leave it to your imagination to think as widely as possible and make this event a memorable one.
While finalizing ISBTI awards this time, the contribution towards National Voluntary Blood Donation Day Celebrations would be considered as the most important parameter in the activities of ISBTI.
