Training is given on various aspects of voluntary blood donation and blood transfusion including the following topics:

  1. Donor Retention
  2. Camp Organization
  3. Blood and its Components
  4. Blood Groups and Cross Matching
  5. Blood Storage
  6. Need of Safe Blood and Blood Safety Measures

Trainees are asked to answer the following questions after the training session:

  1. How did you like this program and what did you learn from it?
  2. What will be your future action plan in the field of voluntary blood donation?
  3. What will be your commitment from now onwards?
  4. What does voluntary blood donation mean to you?

All the participants are then taken to the blood bank to have a glimpse of all the activities being undertaken there like how the components are separated and stored, how the testing of blood is done and blood groups are cross matched. What are the procedures involved in issue of blood in case some one is in immediate need of blood. The visit of blood bank helps donor motivators and camp organizers to understand many things which in turn help them to recruit donors and motivate them effectively.

On analyzing the response from the participants, it has been found that such trainings are very useful and must for everybody related to voluntary blood donation and blood transfusion services.
